In response to the terrorist attacks in September 2001, StarGroup put together and published 101 Reasons To Be A Proud American in six weeks. That book and Brenda Star’s philanthropic 101 Reasons To Read To Your Child prompted StarGroup to determine that it was important to develop a series of educational books on a variety of topics. In addition to revisions of the Reading and American Patriotism books, there are currently ten books in the StarGroup Spotlights series in print, ten more in development, and more being considered.


Celebrating America, The Democratic Party, and The Republican Party

The Republican Party celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2004 and the Democratic Party is over 200 years old. Both parties have long, rich histories that celebrate the American spirit and commitment to liberty and living in a free society.

The history of each party, a well as an overview of America, is presented in a collection of educational books produced in a concise, pleasurable, and easy-to-read format that makes exploring our American heritage and the two major American political parties both informative and enjoyable.


Reading with Your Child

Author and reading advocate Brenda Star has been a devout reader all of her life. While on vacation several years ago, she experienced a vision problem. Suddenly unable to read, she was able to see what was on a screen, so she turned her attention to television for the first time. She was shocked to discover the enormous amount of violence and degradation made available to children who should be discovering the incredible world of reading. When her sight returned, she set out on a new mission and wrote the book, 101 Reasons to READ to Your Child, hoping it would encourage parents and grandparents to help children discover the wonderful experience of reading. Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky purchased an initial 5,000 copies of 101 Reasons To READ With Your Child for distribution by the Kentucky Governor’s office.
